What is it like to live in Legacy?

Legacy is the golf neighborhood of Green Valley South, built around The Legacy Golf Club in ZIP code 89074. Arthur Hills designed the course, it opened in 1989, and the homes around it went up mostly through the 1990s. Because the course is public, you get the fairway view without a club membership.

The neighborhood is a mix. Grand Legacy is guard gated, and inside it Legacy Estates has a second gate and larger custom homes. Master Series is a gated tract of homes that back to the course in many spots. Around them are smaller neighborhoods and condos with lower prices and lower dues, so Legacy covers a wide price range for one golf course.

The course has had a rocky stretch. It closed in July 2017 after a sale, and neighbors pushed back hard on plans to redevelop it, and it reopened that October. Today it is open for public play, and its 10th hole, with tee boxes shaped like card suits, is one of the best known holes in town. The District at Green Valley Ranch, the Green Valley Ranch Resort, and the I-215 are all a few minutes away.
