What is it like to live in Sun City Anthem?

Sun City Anthem is the large 55+ community inside Anthem, and it is busy. Del Webb opened it with the rest of Anthem in October 1998 and finished building in 2008, leaving about 7,100 single-story homes for roughly 13,000 residents. Days here are built around three resident centers and more than 60 clubs.

Anthem Center is the main clubhouse and the largest of the three, at about 77,000 square feet. Independence Center has the 300-seat Freedom Hall theater. Liberty Center is the newest, with indoor and outdoor warm-water pools and a therapy pool. Across all three there are five pools, two fitness centers, and courts for tennis, pickleball, and bocce.

The homes are a mix of sizes, from smaller attached Villas to larger single-family plans on view lots. Most streets are open, with no gate. Pinnacle Village is a gated section of about 227 homes, and the 162 Villas pay higher dues because the association covers more of the exterior.

One association, the Sun City Anthem Community Association, runs everything and is managed by its own staff and an elected board. Golf runs through the community. Holes from Revere Golf Club's two public courses, Lexington and Concord, wind between the streets, and Revere sells an annual pass for residents. Revere is its own business, not part of the association. Sun City Anthem also sits between Serket Golf Club (formerly Rio Secco) and the private Anthem Country Club, so there is a lot of public and private golf close to home. Buyers who want a smaller, quieter 55+ option nearby often compare it with Solera at Anthem.
